Video is essential for a successful marketing strategy, but why?

What is Content Marketing?

To answer why video is essential for a successful content marketing strategy, it is important to first define what content marketing actually is. Does all published content automatically contribute to your content marketing strategy?

The difference between randomly publishing content and publishing content that contributes to your marketing strategy is creating value for your target group with a clear end goal in mind: to inform, interest, influence, convert etc. Therefore you can see content marketing as a tool to build a relationship with your target audience – over time. Content marketing is therefore not a “quick fix” to quickly generate new leads, but a long-term approach in which you meet the information needs of your target audience with every published blog, video or e-book and thus create deep trust in your brand.

It is no longer just about content in the form of text, but content marketing also includes images, videos – for instance corporate film or animation videos – but also events.

But why is it specifically video content that has experienced such an increase in popularity?

Firstly, this development has a biological background, because did you know that your brain can process visuals 60,000 times faster than text? With our ever-shortening attention span, this metric is very important for creating a successful content marketing strategy. Furthermore, the rise of social media and platforms such as Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok has had a major impact on the popularity of video, making it a widely accepted – if not preferred – means of communication.

It is therefore not surprising that a study found that 92% of the marketers surveyed indicated that video content has actively contributed to increasing product knowledge among their target audience. The better informed prospects are, the faster they can go through the sales cycle. So even if you use animation videos higher in the marketing funnel with the aim of informing your target audience, video can have a direct impact on your bottomline results.
